Our Clinical Team

The biography of Dr. Rodney Collins, MD reads like a fairy tale - from the tough streets of South Central Los Angeles, to Stanford University and beyond. Dr. Collins became the valedictorian of his class at Dorsey High School and later received his Bachelor's degree in Human Biology at Stanford, and then matriculated Howard University's College of Medicine in Washington D.C. He finished his medical training at UCLA/Olive View Medical Center in Sylmar, CA in 1999.

Dr. Rodney Collins has a Board-Certified Addiction Medicine/ Psychiatrist in Beverly Hills for the past 15 years. Prior to, Dr. Collins practiced psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente, Bellflower and Exodus Medical Groups, and Brotman Hospital in Culver City, California. At the start of his medical career, Dr. Collins served four years as a primary care physician in the US Army as a Captain in the 1980's.

In his spare time, Dr. Collins enjoys skiing, snowboarding, travelling and dining out with friends. He has found passion helping those infected and affected by HIV and Aids and is still a consultant for AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the Oasis clinic at King Drew Medical Center, AltaMed, and the Daniel Lara Clinic since 2000. Dr. Collins has assisted thousands of patients and family members of those living with HIV.

As an addiction specialist, Dr. Collins also evaluates nurses and other professionals currently monitored by the California Nursing Board and other state licensing agencies. With such an extensive background, it was only destined that Dr. Rodney Collins would eventually create his own medical practice.

Dr. RODNEY D. COLLINS, MD - FOUNDER of NEW VISIONS MEDICAL GROUP

Dr. Roberto Sozzi, MD completed his residency training in general psychiatry and fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at the State University of New York located in Brooklyn, NY (Downstate Medical Center). Then he served as the Attending Psychiatrist at the South Beach Psychiatric center's inpatient unit and also at Saint Vincent's Hospital Psychiatric Outpatient clinic located in Staten Island, New York.

Dr. Sozzi opened private practices in both Brooklyn and Staten Island, NY but finally settled in neighboring New Jersey where he practiced for many years. Dr. Sozzi relocated to Los Angeles, California back in 2016 and we are grateful to have him at New Visions Medical Group.

Dr. Sozzi is a native of Argentina, South America and attended his medical school there. Later he transferred to Columbia, South America to finish his medical internship and later emigrated to the United States, and settled in New York City.

Living in Lower Manhattan, Dr. Sozzi lived only blocks away from former World Trade Center, so after the terrorist attacks on 9/11 , he became heavily involved in the psychiatric treatment of the members of the New York Fire Department, Port Authority Police and the "First responder" survivors based at "Ground Zero".

Dr. Sozzi's wide clinical experience has been enriched by his long-standing work with the diverse immigrant communities, exposing him to different cultures, backgrounds and languages. He is currently fluent in Spanish, Italian and proficient in Portuguese and French.

DR. ROBERTO S. SOZZI, MD - PSYCHIATRIST

Dr. David James offers hypnotherapy and psychotherapy services to the patients of New Visions Medical Group. He holds at PhD and MS in Clinical Psychology and is an Honors Graduate of the Hypnosis Motivation Institute in Tarzana, California.

A former Police Sergeant and Episcopal Priest, Dr. James brings a wealth of real-life experiences to his work at New Visions. He is the author of three books, the latest is "Discover Your Magnificent Mind, " from Balboa Press/Hay House. Davis is a sought after speaker in both United States and Canada. His talks are easy to access and full of the latest scientific research on the Mind-Body Connection.

Clients comment favorably on the gifts that Dr. James brings to his supportive psychotherapy and hypnotherapy services. Dr. James is an avid hiker, poet and composer.

DR. DAVID C. JAMES, PHD - HYPNOTHERAPY / PSYCHOTHERAPY

Dr. Victoria Moran: a Clinical Psychologist and New Vision Medical Group Psychological Associate, has been trained at Stanford University, Pepperdine University, Texas A&M University, and Howard University. She utilizes a BioPsychoSocial Spiritual orientation to health and wellness, in her life and with clients. To that end, Dr. Moran regularly completes marathons, triathalons, and is a certified yoga teacher. Dr. Moran is also licensed to preach in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. 


Poet and activist Audre Lorde’s invocation, “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own,” is Dr. Moran's impetus for dedicating her life to the upliftment of Black Indigenous Women of Color: a calling that was born both out of her own life experiences, as well as her scholarship. 

DR. VICTORIA MORAN, PHD

Yvette Holman, PMHNP is a board-certified Mental Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and has been with New Visions Medical Group over 5 years. Ms. Holman is experienced in treating all mental diroders, but also specializes in Addiction Medicine: treating Alcohol, Benzodiazepines, Opiates and Stimulant withdrawals. Ms. Holman is also trained in MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) and has a Buprenorphine wavier to prescribe Suboxone. 

Yvette understands that we are a LGBTQ friendly practice that treat clients from this community daily. Ms. Holman is credentialed as a Veterans’ provider in the Veterans Choice Program (VCP) and also handles  US Veterans daily. Some of her duties include Psychiatric  Evaluations, Medication Management, Psychotherapy, Drug and Alcohol Intervention and evaluating clients for disability.

Yvette Holman has a strong background in Psychiatry and started as a CNA in a facility with developmentally disabled clients while obtaining her Psychiatric Technician License. She has worked at Metropolitan State Hospital, Los Angeles County -USC Medical Center, and then transferred to the actual Emergency unit for 10 years. Yvette understood there was nowhere that couple prepare you better then the busiest and largest ER in the United States at USC Medical Center. Yvette also serviced children and adolescents with mental health issues for an additional decade. Yvette brings a phenomenal background with her, which couples with her vibrant personality and smile that lights up the office. At New Visions Medical Group, we are delighted to have her on the team, and you will agree.

YVETTE HOLMAN, PMHNP

Dr. Minci Sekou Stenson is a Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who received her Doctorate specializing in mental health/psychiatry at the University of Arizona. She also has a background as a Women's Health Registered Nurse and received her bachelor's degree in science and nursing. She specializes in substance use disorders, mood, anxiety and personality disorders along with medication management. Her philosophy in mental health is to treat each patient as an individual and focus on collaborative care. Her main goals are to focus on patient safety, stabilization of symptoms, education, teaching coping mechanisms and creating treatment plans that are sustainable for the patients after discharge. Outside of her passion for mental health, Dr. Stenson loves to travel the world to gain more knowledge about different cultures.

MINCI SEKOU STENSON -PMHNP

Ashley Hooker is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner whose dedication to addiction medicine is both personal and profound. She has been working in the medical field since 2016 with experience in a Trauma ICU, as a travel nurse, and finishing up her bedside nursing career during the height of the COVID pandemic in a Pulmonary ICU at UCSD. With a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, her journey into healthcare is marked by a deep-seated commitment to those battling substance use disorders. A commitment that has been kindled by witnessing the struggles of loved ones with addictions. After acquiring her MSN in 2022 she began working in addiction medicine and plans to continue working in this field for the entirety of her career.

In her practice, Ashley stands out for her personalized approach to care, focusing on the individual beyond their addiction. She believes in treating each patient with a tailored strategy, ensuring a comfortable and dignified path to recovery. Ashley's resolve is fueled by a conviction that substance use disorders represent one of the most significant health crises today. Her approach is holistic, emphasizing the importance of understanding and nonjudgmental care, qualities she upholds in every patient interaction. Beyond her professional life, Ashley finds joy and balance with her family. Together with her husband and daughter, she embraces the great outdoors, finding peace and rejuvenation in hiking and camping. Her commitment to service extends beyond her medical practice, as evidenced by her volunteer work in her husband's naval command's family readiness group.

ASHLEY HOOKER -PMHNP

Jazmyn Childress, PMHNP is a licensed and certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Her goal in life is to reduce the stigma of mental health and increase access to mental health services. Dr. Childress has always had a passion for mental health and the healing art. She received her doctorate degree in Education and has a master’s in public health (MPH) as well as a master’s in nursing (MSN).  

Jazmyn's career started off in hospital administration, research and in education as a professor. After receiving her MSN, Dr. Childress worked as a psychiatric registered nurse in the psych ER, adolescent psych ER and on the inpatient units.  As a PMHNP, Dr. Childress specializes in mood and substance use disorders.  She enjoys teaching and connecting to clients that she works with. 

JAZMYN CHILDRESS -PMHNP

Michele Natarajan, PHHNP is a licensed and certified Psychiatric nurse practitioner. who has been in the healthcare field for over 20 years. Michele's passion for the Mental Health community dates back to childhood with a father who suffered from PTSD and self medicated to cope with his symptoms stemming from being a war veteran. "As mental health continues to unfold and expand I as a practitioner have also expanded my learning by educating myself on a variety of Western, Eastern and Psychedelic modalities to allow clients to heal long term".

 After owning and operating a home health agency as a registered nurse for almost a decade, Lilit Sahakyan, reached the pinnacle in her nursing career by earning her Master of Science in Nursing from Azusa Pacific University as an Adult Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Her Interest in addiction medicine developed when her father passed away at a young age due to sequela of alcohol use disorder. It was this pivotal moment that led her towards the journey to better understand and treat the preventive disease of substance use disorder. Today, she provides an unprecedented level of care and service to her clients.
